The Childhood Homes of The Beatles

The Childhood Homes of The Beatles

John Lennon: 9 Newcastle Road in Wavertree is where the Beatles star lived from his birth until he was five, when Lennon moved to live with his Aunt Mimi at Mendips in Woolton. Lennon made reference to the Newcastle Road house saying: "I lived in 9 Newcastle Road. I was born on the 9 of October. It's just a number that follows me around."

Paul McCartney: 20 Forthlin Road was the home of Paul from the age of 13 until 22. Paul and John used practise in the living room of this house, and it is thought that more than 100 Beatles songs were composed here. The National Trust now owns the house and market it as "the birthplace of the Beatles", since this is the place where the Beatles composed and rehearsed their earliest songs.

Ringo Starr: 10 Admiral Grove, was his childhood home form the age of three, until he moved to London in late 1963. He remembered Admiral Grove fondly saying “I remember the Admiral Grove house, and that didn't have a garden either. It had a toilet down the yard; we never had a bathroom. But it was home, and it was fine. We had two bedrooms: one for my mum, and one for me”

George Harrison: 12 Arnold Grove in Wavertree, Liverpool was the birthplace and first childhood home of George Harrison, who lived in the house until he was six years old before moving to a new council estate is Speke in 1950. Harrison once said of the house, " I sat outside the house a couple of years ago, imagining 1943, nipping through the spiritual world, the astral level, getting back into a body in that house. That really is strange when you consider the whole planet, all the planets there may be on a spiritual level. How do I come into that family, in that house at that time, and who am I anyway?"
