St Georges Hall
St Georges Hall by Ed Farrell.
This Grade 1 listed building, facing Lime Street, is recognised as one of the world’s foremost neo-classical buildings. Architected by Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, it was built by 1854 though his early death during construction passed responsibility to John Weightman. In front, Alfred Waterhouse’s grand North Western Hotel and the roof of Lime Street station. Top is the magnificent run of classical buildings in William Brown Street, and –behind - St John’s gardens with the entrance to the Kingsway Tunnel.
