This Penny Lane sign marks the start of the lane on Allerton Road. The sign is situated opposite to the bus shelter where Paul sat and began to formulate the lyrics to ‘Penny Lane’ whilst waiting for the bus. This famous sign is regularly replaced due over zealous graffiti or theft. This is one of the more theft-resistant street signs installed in 2007, although this one has since been stolen!
